Comedy Clubs

There are three main comedy clubs in East London: Lee Hurst's Backyard Comedy Club (Bethnal Green), Jongleurs (Bow) and Up the Creek (Greenwich). All clubs are open only Friday and Saturday evenings and serve food. There is also a disco after the shows so you can experience a complete night out - Eat, Drink, Laugh and Dance!

Lee Hurst's Backyard Comedy Club (020 7739 3122) is housed in a converted textile factory and as the name suggests owned by comedian Lee Hurst, who often acts as compere.

Jongleurs (0870 787 0707) has launched the careers of many famous comedians such as Rory Bremner, Graham Norton, Jack Dee, Al Murray, Harry Enfield, Frank Skinner, Lee Evans, Josie Lawrence and Ed Byrne, and are always looking out for new talent.

Up the Creek (020 8858 4581) is an intimate comedy venue serving Greenwich's laughter lovers, benefiting from an eclectic mix of new comers and household names like Jo Brand, Lee Hurst, Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer.

If you fancy a laugh during the week to relieve the stress of a hard day's work, choose between Theatre Royal and Canary Wharf's comedy nights.

Comedy Nights (every Monday) at the Theatre Royal Bar (020 8534 7374) are proving to be quite a hit with audiences and comedians alike.  If you haven’t seen one before, come early and secure a seat before the line-up gets under way at 8:00 p.m. Entry is free, and drinks will be available as well as freshly prepared food at pub prices .

Canary Wharf presents a monthly Comedy Club at Cabot Hall with resident compere Alan Carr. Bring your friends - if you buy 8 tickets you get 2 extra free.
