Eat East - London Bridge Area
From the 18th century onwards the London Bridge Area, historically called the 'Pool of London' became known as London's Larder as all the food imported to London
came through the docks at Hays Wharf. Therefore, it's not surprising to find a huge variety of places to eat, with prices to suit all pockets.
The London Bridge Area also used to be known as a centre for the hop and brewing industry, which is again reflected in the great many historic pubs in the area, plus a few more modern ones! The listing of drinking holes at www.discoverlondonbridge.com is great for finding a nearby pub or planning a major pub-crawl. Cheers!

If you’re looking for a quintessential English tearoom to have breakfast or afternoon tea, then Shipp’s Tearooms is just the place for you. Moist confections of Victoria sponge, chocolate sandwich, lemon drizzle and carrot cake, plus some perfect scones go perfectly with pots of pure Ceylon, golden Assam, dajarling or orange pekoe. Retro teapots, bone china and tablecloths, sourced from the owner’s antique shop, ‘Vintage Heaven’ on Columbia Road, put the finishing touches on a wonderful afternoon tea experience: Shipp's is more like a proper, old-fashioned tearoom than an actual old tearoom.
